What is Human Immune System?

Immune system is made up of organs and immune cells. This system works together to
protect our body from foreign pathogens and remove abnormal cells that cause diseases.

Types of Immune System

Innate immune system
First line defence that non-specifically eliminates pathogens immediately without activation.
Adaptive immune system
Second line defence that specifically eliminates a pathogen after being activated by antigen presenting cells.

Various types of immune cells can be found in our peripheral blood which include natural killer cells (NK cells) and natural killer T cells (NKT cells).

The frontliner in our immune system.

The bridge between innate and adaptive immunity.
